Taster’s Choice: Uptown Saturday Night

uptownsatnite.jpg

Told ya samples were on the way! Consider Taster’s Choice our sample section where we’ll 9 times outta 10 (don’t quote me on that) be looking at specific albums instead of spanning whole careers. We won’t be posting all the samples of course, just a few that we like.

Random thought: I was two when the Janet Jackson track below came out. Two!!! I also just realized (dumb late, but again, I was two) that The Lost Boyz used it for “Renee” as well. In any case, “Luchini” has been looping in my brain for the past couple of weeks for some reason so, why not kick it off with Camp Lo (who I hear has a new album out! anyone heard anything?). Enjoy folks.

Curtis Mayfield – “Tripping Out
used in “Black Nostaljack”

Janet Jackson – “Funny How Time Flies
used in “Coolie High”

The Stylistics – “Love is the Answer
used in “Black Connection”

Dynasty – “Adventures in the Land of Music
used in “Luchini AKA This is it”

Shaft Soundtrack – “Walk From Regio’s
used in “Nicky Barnes”

Loose Ends – “A Little Spice
used in “Rockin’ It AKA Spanish Harlem”

*Dope updates on:
Still Listen To Gangsta Music (Peep T.I. being unintentionally hilarious)
Souled On Music (New Edition of Souled On Samples)

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!! I have looking for the “Luchini” sample for so long and haven’t been able to find a full version of it. Uptown Saturday Night is one of my favorite hip hop albums, a classic in my book.

Thanks for that Lucini sample. Been wracking my brain on that one for a while now. I thought it might be Cameo. Guess not.
