The LES (or the Lower East Side for those out-the-know) has been described as “The Last Real Neighborhood in NYC“. Maybe there’s some truth to that. I mean, down on Attorney St. & E. Houston, there’s still a neighborhood. Emphasis on the NEIGHBOR cuz we actually know ours. From the Italian dudes at the pizza spot on Rivington, to SHQ, to the lovely ladies that live right next door to the Attorney St. Store, there’s a seemingly unfamiliar vibe in the air. It feels so weird, so foreign – sorta like trying on other people’s shoes. It feels so un-New York. Oh sh!t, it sorta feels like caring……
Naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh………
Couldn’t be………
Yep, we some caring muhfuckas down here. A point proven by the genuine heartfelt daily greetings exchanged with our homeboys from the local Dominican barbershop where we never understand WTF they’re saying, but always understand what the hell is going on. Nah mean?? Well just in case you don’t, my man Rasheed Thurmon has some real pinpoint descriptions of what it’s like down on Attorney St.
