Aaliyah – “If Your Girl Only Knew”

Remember the slim framed cutie who rocked gigantic Hilfiger jeans, matching haltertop and long hair that veiled half of her stunna shades before they were even stunna shades? Shorty always looked and carried herself like the flyest chick on the block, and that’s just one of the many reasons why we miss Aaliyah. Apparently the good folks over at The FADER share the same sentiment, as the beloved songstress (whose whole steez was way, waaaaaaay ahead of her time, by the way) graces Issue 54. The mag will feature commentary from friends and fans i.e. Missy & Kid Sister. Also in the issue, Lykke Li, and a feature on England’s Bassline scene. I’m writing on this sight unseen, but The FADER pretty much always delivers, so look out for it on newstands and online via itunes soon.
