Maxwell – “Pretty Wings”

Spotted this at Lance’s last week. Was like, “cool joint.” Forgot it. Then saw @djteenwolf chattin’ bout “Ascension“, which was and still is the absolute sh*t when it come to good old soul smooth mcgrooves. So yeah, recalled this video. Made note to self. This post is now here.

Oh, and true story: Back in our radio promo intern days yeaaaaars ago, we were charged to make a delivery to Sir Maxwellian’s crib. Our appearance at the time bespoke DJ Kayslay. The walkman – a little this, a little that. Point being, we actually kinda maybe wanted to meet dude. Dap. Say whatup. Maybe say “that was a fly silver shirt you had on in the video man.” He would think we were being facetious. But we would have been forreal. Some awkwardness might’ve ensued. It mighta got all weird like, you know? But yeah…so we arrive downtown, ring the buzzer. We announce ourselves, he buzzes us in, but not before saying “please put the (whatever it was) in the center of the elevator (we think he said the center, memory could be embellishing) and send it up to 3. Thanks.”
