Saturn Never Sleeps – “Hearts On Fire”
I saw Saturn Never Sleeps (King Britt and Rucyl) a couple weeks back at Live At The Loft and they were very good and all…but yo – what I really want to get to is how their album press sheet casts vocalist Rucyl as a “Science Fiction Singer/Producer.” SCIENCE FICTION SINGER SUNNN that is ill. I woulda been a fan off that alone! Further poking around reveals Sun Ra, Herbie Hancock and Massive Attack to be among their influences, and Rucyl apparently likes to um no biggie just custom make some equipment- i.e. building a wearable MIDI “Chakakhantroller” in 2008. Fits in the Fly-lo/Shabazz/J*DaVey landscape, but occupying their own space fa sho. Grab their debut album for free download here.
